Université Paris-Saclay, Department of Computer Science¶
Artificial Intelligence Master Track¶
One of the most selective AI master programs in France — in 2025, we received over 1,500 applications for 23 places. We welcome students with a strong background in computer science, mathematics, or physics who want to dive deep into the mathematical foundations of modern AI and apply them to real-world problems.
Our program has a distinctive focus on Natural Language Processing: many of the researchers who teach here are active NLP researchers at LISN and beyond, which means rich course offerings and abundant research opportunities in this area. A secondary focus is Scientific Machine Learning — applying ML to physics, chemistry, and the life sciences. While the program is research-oriented, many of our graduates go on to successful careers in industry. Read more about what this master program is and whether you should apply.
Is this the right program for you?
If you're passionate about the mathematics behind language models, deep learning, and data-driven science, you're in the right place. If your primary interest is pure mathematics, consider the M1 Mathématiques et Intelligence Artificielle at Paris-Saclay. For computer vision at the M2 level, the MVA master is an excellent option (note: access from our M1 to MVA is highly restricted — choose a different M1 if your plan is to go there). You can also explore the other tracks in the Informatics Master.

Application Information – 2026 Admissions¶
Application Deadline: April 1, 2026¶
It is recommended to apply once you have received all or most of your first-semester grades, ideally around mid-March.
Applications are reviewed in batches, with one review period scheduled around March 15–20. There is therefore no advantage in applying before this date.
In recent years, we received over 1,000 applications for M1 (20–30 available places) and ~400 applications for M2 (~10 available places).

The AI master¶
The Paris-Saclay AI track of the Computer Science Master was founded in 2019 by Isabelle Guyon. It is a very selective 2-year master program with 500–1500 applicants at the first-year entry level for ~25 slots. It inherited from a previous 1-year Master 2 program run by Alexandre Allauzen. It includes a rigorous program with foundational courses and more advanced classes in machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing. It is taught by 17 professors, including 14 Université Paris-Saclay faculty and 3 external experts.
The AI master is a "parcours" (track) of the Université Paris-Saclay Computer Science (Informatique) master. It delivers a master diploma in computer science in 2 years, recruiting at the BAC+3 level (license or bachelor). The classes are taught in English and include:
- Foundational classes (math, probability and statistics, signal processing, and optimization)
- Growth classes (data science, machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing)
- Soft skills (e.g. Language, communication, entrepreneurship)
- Practical work (e.g. Projects, internships, summer schools)
It provides a balance between theoretical and practical instruction.
See CLASS LIST.
Please note that starting from 2023, we are no longer offering the AI - EIT Digital track.
