Registration

Where can I get help with registration?

Your first step: General information on registration

For questions not covered below: University Registration FAQ

Administrative contact:

Romane Taddei Secrétaire pédagogique master IA Bât. 640-PUIO, Bureau B206 Université Paris-Saclay, 91400 Orsay, France

Warning

The administrative help is mostly on vacation from mid-July to the last week of August.

When is the deadline to confirm my application?

We are not aware of a specific deadline, but you must start the registration process as soon as possible because of the lengthy administrative process and the difficulty of finding lodging. By courtesy to other students on the waiting list, please confirm as soon as possible.

Can I get a certificate of acceptance?

Yes. Mail the coordinators of the AI master program.

I am currently in M1 AI. Do I need to apply for M2?

Yes. Even though you will be automatically accepted once you validate your M1 year, you still need to formally apply to the M2 AI through the Inception platform before the deadline (April 1, 2026). This is an administrative requirement — no exceptions are made after the deadline.

The good news is that it’s very easy: you can replace all the requested documents with copies of a single-page PDF stating your name and that you are already enrolled in M1 AI.

When is the start date of school?

Classes usually start in the first week of September, but there will be an orientation day a few days before that. You should be ready for school beginning of September.

In 2026, the classes of the new year start in the week of September 7. The M2 master defense will probably take place in the week before that — commonly on the Wednesday or Thursday. All AI master track students, those just about to start, and those about to start the M2, are expected to attend the defense, which is a great opportunity to meet everyone and get a feel for the program. The orientation day will probably be on the Friday right after the defense, i.e. September 4. But this is not yet confirmed, so please keep an eye on your email for updates.

What is the yearly calendar (with vacations, etc.)?

See Schedule (EDT).

Tuition & Finances

What are the tuition fees?

The tuition fees are similar for all students, regardless of origin (a few hundred euros). All students must also pay the CVEC.

Health & Insurance

How do I get medical insurance?

Register to get a social security number. It is also recommended to get a private medical insurance for the first 4 months because the French administration is notoriously slow. See this information page.

How do I get liability insurance?

Liability insurance (assurance de responsabilité civile) is mandatory in France. You usually need to get one when you rent. See also this information page.

Search for "assurance responsabilité civile étudiant" to find various options.

Does the university provide insurance?

No. The university does not provide any insurance. It is the responsibility of each student.

Housing & Practical

How can I get accommodations?

See the list of accommodations. Check distances to your study location (PUIO) and transportation means.

Classes

How are classes organized?

See Schedule (EDT). Students can select UEs in other Masters of the mention "informatics". For the AI Master, most courses take place on Thursday and Friday with approximately 4 courses per period. Each course takes 1/2 day (3.5 hours) and courses last 7 weeks (including 1 exam week, if there is a final exam). Each UE is worth 2.5 ECTS (credits). Wednesdays are reserved for "soft skills" such as communication, conferences, and language courses.
